US WOMEN'S OPEN STOPS EARLY DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS

UPDATES FROM THE USGA WEBSITE

2:30 p.m. -- Play suspended for the day. Thunderstorms continue to hit the area, making the course unsafe for play. First round to resume on Friday at 7:45 a.m. MDT.


2:14 p.m. -- Important note: Thursday's tickets will be honoUred Friday, according to USGA officials.


1:05 p.m. -- Just been told by Ben Kimball, the director of the U.S. Women's Open, that the players will now be shuttled in from the evacuation vans to the clubhouse. Looks like this suspension will be awhile.


12:57 p.m. -- Two-time Women's Open champion Juli Inkster is in the clubhouse with a 3-over 74. She three-putted the par-4 14th that led to a double bogey. "I made a few mistakes," said Inkster. "In a U.S. Open you can't do that."


12:47 p.m. -- Thunderstorms in the area have forced officials to suspend play. A handful of groups from the morning wave had completed their rounds. We'll keep you updated when play resumes.


12:35 p.m. -- Cristie Kerr, the 2007 U.S. Women's Open champion, now shares the lead with amateur Amy Anderson at two under par after making birdie at the par-4 sixth hole. Kerr has three holes to play, while Anderson has six left.


12:30 p.m. -- Low score in the clubhouse right now is a 2-over 73 by Kristy McPherson. Amateur Amy Anderson continues to lead at two under par through 12 holes. A bunch of golfers are at one under, including past U.S. Women's Open champions Cristie Kerr (2007) and Inbee Park (2008).
