WESCOE LEADS BOYD QUAICH BY ONE FROM FOTHERINGHAME

Cambridge University's Benjamin Wescoe carries a one-stroke lead into Thursday's final round of the Boyd Quaich international students' stroke-play golf tournament over the Old Course, St Andrews. With rounds of 73, 70 and 67 over the Old and New courses for a highly creditable three-round tally of 210 – particularly in Thursday's testing conditions of wind and rain, Wescoe has, on the face of it, only one serious rival for the coveted trophy. Local student Sean Fotheringhame is only one shot behind him on 211 after scores of 70, 71 and 70. Third-placed Dundee student Daniel Sommerville is four shots adrift of Fotheringhame on 215 with scores of 73, 73 and 69.
