ALISON NICHOLAS TO BE EWGA AMBASSADOR

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Alison Nicholas, captain of the European team for The Solheim Cup, has agreed to become an ambassador for the English Women’s Golf Association.
She will help to raise the profile of the association and its mission to drive forward women’s golf.
Alison commented: " I am delighted to become an EWGA ambassador and I look forward to supporting the work they do for ladies’ golf in England."
EWGA chief executive Jim Robinson said: “We are thrilled to work with Alison who is an inspiration to women golfers.”
Alison, who was British amateur stroke-play champion before turning professional, won 18 professional titles during her playing career, including the US Open and the Weetabix Ladies’ British Open. She has represented Europe in The Solheim Cup on six occasions and has been a member of three winning teams.
Alison took on the role as EWGA ambassador after she hosted two exclusive events, organised in partnership with Tourism Ireland, to give EWGA members an insight into her preparations for The Solheim Cup.
The match, between teams of top women professionals from Europe and the USA, takes place at Killeen Castle, County Meath, Ireland, from September 23-25.
