CARNOUSTIE'S JESSICA WINS NORTH GIRLS TITLE
Prizewinning line-up (left to right); Jessica Meek, Eleanor Tunn, Kimberley Beveridge, Olivia Borwick, Emma Logie. Jessica Meek made the journey from Carnoustie to Lossiemouth a well worthwhile Sunday trip when she won the North of Scotland girls championship for the first time over the Moray Golf Club New Course. Jessica had an excellent score of 71 with birdies at the first, second, seventh, 12th and 18th. She showed her long-hitting capabilities by driving the green at the 296yd closing hole. Aboyne's Kimberley Beveridge was runner-up with a 74. Eleanor Tunn had the second best scratch score of 73 but, with a handicap of four, she won the handicap trophy. Eleanor, who had one birdie, at the 13th, probably travelled farther than Jessica Meek to the venue from her home at Reay on the Pentland Firth Emma Logie from Keith has only been playing competititve golf since last year and will be 12 in September so she did very well to return a net 73 off 28 on a "strange" course and win the top prize in the Bronze Division. A total of 15 girls took part. The CSS was 71. Prizewinners: SCRATCH 71 Jessica Meek (Carnoustie). 74 Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne). HANDICAP SILVER DIVISION Eleanor Tunn (Reay) (4) 69 Olivia Borwick (McDonald Ellon) (9) 73 BRONZE DIVISION Emma Logie (Keith) (28) 73 Fiona Sutherland (Deeside) (21) 80 |
