ELLIE GOODALL IS NEW ENGLISH NORTHERN GIRLS CHAMPION

Yorkshire’s Ellie Goodall shot three-under par for 36 holes to win the North region girls’ championship by four shots at Durham City.
The 15-year-old from Selby also won the Kilburn Trophy, for girls aged over 13 and under 16, and helped Yorkshire to win both the scratch and handicap team trophies.
Ellie, who is representing England in this week’s annual mixed U16 match against Spain, scored 74, 69.
The overall runner-up was Olivia Winning (Rotherham) who had the low score of the day with her second round 68.
Other major trophy winners were Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest) in the 15-18 age group and Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) in the U14 section.
The outstanding shot of the day was played by Sana Ahmed from Heaton Moor, Cheshire, who had a hole-in-one on the 115-yard par three seventh.
EWGA’s North region includes the counties of Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire.
