ENGLAND PIP IRELAND FORF TEAM TITLE AT ROYAL ASHDOWN

England did it with a two-man team, Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton) withdrawing from the tournament after a first-round 79.
That left the teenage Woburn pair of Charley Hull and Lauren Taylor to prevail with both their scores having to count in the second round. Fortunately Charley had a 74 and Lauren a 76.
Ireland's trio who also totalled 305 were Leona and Lisa Maguire and Charlene Reid.
It went to a countback and England's better second-round total of 159 to Ireland's 151 was the deciding issue.
Wales (308) finished third and Scotland (317) last. Eilidh Briggs, the Scotland girls champion, withdrew from the event a week or so in advance but no replacement was named, even though there were a total of 13 Scots taking part in the British championship.
Eilidh's absence meant that the scores of her elder sister Megan and Pamela Pretswell had to count in both rounds.
