INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S GAMES GOLF RESULTS
The International Childrens’ Games hosted in Lanarkshire played their golf tournament at Hamilton Golf Club. The event brought together over eleven hundred children aged 12 to 15 to compete in eight different sports including golf.
The format of the golf was 36 holes handicap strokeplay for the girls and 36 holes scratch for the boys championship with 1st 2nd and 3rd getting gold, silver and bronze medals in true Olympic style.
The prizes were presented by Sponsors Morrison, Hamilton Captain Stuart Smellie and PGA chief executive Sandy Jones, previously youngest ever president of Lanarkshire Golf Association, aged 32 in 1978. Present Lanarkshire President Willie Sharpe acted as starter for the two days of the competition.

Footnote Hamilton Captain, Stuart Smellie, went out for a few holes after the presentation and had a hole in one at the third with a nine iron.
