LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR NORTH OF SCOTLAND GIRLS

There was a time when the North of Scotland girls' championship was considered one of the premier events on the Under-18s' golfing calendar. Curtis Cup player to be Elaine Farquharson (Deeside) won it on her climb to the top and Kathryn Imrie (Monfieith), another destined to play for Great Britain and Ireland, certainly competed in it and very possibly won it too.
But nothing lasts forever.
Now only a handful of players enter the North of Scotland girls championship - and this year's 18-hole competition.
It's going to be held over the Moray Golf Club's New Course on Sunday, August 21 and late entries will be accepted on 01463 871272.
The competition is open to Northern Division girls (Northern Counties, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perth and Kinross) who were under 18 years of age on January 1.
The only entries so far barely make up half-an-hour's tee times
11.30 - Jessica Meek (Carnoustie Ladies), Tegan Seivwright (Deeside); Eleanor Tunn (Reay), Sophie Alexander (Deeside); Olivia Borwick (McDonald Ellon) and partner; B Flaherty (Banchory) and partner.
12.02 - E. Henderson (Dunning), K. McBeath (Forres).

Come on, Northern Division girls! Let's make it a "real" championship once again.
