FOUR PLAYERS SHARE LEAD IN WEATHER-HIT FUTURES EVENT

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – Jane Rah, Cathryn Bristow, Izzy Beisiegel and Sydnee Michaels are the leaders in the clubhouse at six-under par at the $110,000 Pennsylvania Classic.
The second round of the tournament was suspended at 12:35 p.m., resumed at 4:57 p.m. then ultimately called for the day at 6:22 p.m. due to weather.

During the more than four hour delay, players played card games, lounged on couches and leisurely enjoyed lunch.

An Angel is Smiling Down on Ferrero...

When you see Lisa Ferrero meticulously mark her golf ball on the first hole it is hard to imagine the significant impact the letters S.W. have on the life of the LPGA Futures Tour veteran.
After finishing a successful amateur and collegiate golf career at the University of Texas , Ferrero was poised to achieve greatness in the professional ranks. After years of struggling to play golf at the caliber she desired as a professional, Ferrero was forced her to reevaluate her career path.
Prior to this year’s LPGA Futures Tour season, Ferrero’s best finish on the money list came in the 2008 season when she finished 11th.
It wasn’t until Ferrero found inspiration in a courageous little girl that everything would be put into perspective for the Lodi , Calif. native.
Ferrero first met Samantha Williams at her home golf club in Lodi , Calif. Williams, who suffered from a brain tumor, always had the ability to smile even when everyone would understand if she cried. It was Williams’ grit and determination that inspired Ferrero to keep reaching for her own dreams on the golf course.
Ferrero and Williams became fast friends. Whenever Williams was feeling down, Ferrero would take her out to enjoy a day at the golf course. The duo kept in close contact even while Ferrero went away for college, as Williams served as the honorary assistant coach whenever the University of Texas Longhorns played in Stanford University ’s tournament.
While Williams ultimately lost her battle with brain cancer, her memory will always carry on every time Ferrero tees it up in a tournament. Ferrero now marks her ball with the letters S.W. to remind herself to emulate Williams and always smile, no matter what challenge she may face on the golf course.
“I was trying to find a reason to keep playing golf,” said Ferrero. “Every time I look at that (William’s initials), I’m like, ‘You know what? Smile, because she was able to have a good day no matter what.’”

Ferrero is in the midst of her best season as a professional golfer and is poised to secure her LPGA Tour card for next year’s 2012 season She currently sits second in the J-Golf Race for the Card and has notched two victories during this year’s LPGA Futures Tour season.
