NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Munster champions Tralee overpowered strong favourites Holywood to win the 2011 Irish Under-19 Girls Inter-club Trophy this afternoon at Galway Golf Club.
Sarah Fitzgerald continued her devastating form to turn five up and despite a late rally by Ellyn Anderson, closed out the tie at the 16th hole.
In the top match, Avril Peevers was enjoying a ding-dong match with Irish international Jessica Carty as they turned all square. Focus turned to the middle match where Aoife Crowley held a three-hole advantage at the turn. Rachel Cormier dug deep to reduce the deficit but, with the top match all square on 18, Crowley settled the affair with regulation pars to win a first ever Irish title for the Munster champions.

FINAL
Tralee 2 1/2, Holywood 1/2
Avril Peevers (11) halved with Jessica Carty (3) (called in)
Aoife Crowley (10) bt Rachel Cormier (8) 3 and 2.
Sarah Fitzgerald (19) bt Ellyn Anderson (15) 3 and 2.
