RAIN IN BELGIUM WIPES OUT PRACTICE ROUND FOR FIVE SCOTS
Five top young Scots golfers were deprived of a practice round today before the scheduled start tomorrow of the Belgian junior international tournament at Royal Golf Club Belgique near Brussels.
Scottish boys champion David Wilson (Troon Welbeck), Jamie Savage (Cawder), Scottish girls champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm), Rebecca McGeehan (Hummelbachaue) and Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) were left with nothing to do all day as heavy overnight rain flooded the course and led to its closure "until further notice."
The 72-hole stroke-play tournament has individual boys and girls' sections and a mixed team trophy.
