SCOTS SHUT OUT OF TOP SPOTS IN UNDER-14 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Not a good day for the home players in the rain-abbreviated Loretto School Scottish Under-14 boys' and girls' open championship at Aberdour Golf Club, Fife today .
The boys' one-round event was won by an Irish player, Marc Boucher, after he beat Glen Burrett (Haggs Castle) at the first hole of a play-off. They had tied on two-over-par 69.
Joint third on 70 were Sam O'Brien (Stoke by Nayland) and Robbie Kemsley (Balmore).
No Scot figured in the first three of the girls' event won by Norway's Susana Vik with a six-over-par 74. She had three shots to spare from two English challengers Clara Kelly (Hagley) and Emily Lyle (Worksop), both on 77.
Leading Scottish girls were Chloe Goadby (St Regulus) and Alexandra Qayum (Ranfurly Caslte) who tied for fourth place with Samantha Fuller (Roehampton).

Dear Colin,

Just a quick note, having read your brief article on line. If the scores are checked I think you will find it is a great day for Scottish golf, given that
Ten of the first fifeteen players were Scottish. Just wanted to put a more positive spin on things!!!

Yours in golf,
Glen Burrett snr
