ST ANDREWS JUNIOR LADIES OPEN AND GIRLS QUAICH RESULTS

Top seed Sophie Maguire, a member of the local club, St Regulus, cleared her first match-play hurdle in the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open tournament over the Eden Course today.
But, the second leading qualifier, Lianna Bailey (Notts Ladies), was beaten 5 and 4 by the 15th qualifier, Eleanor Tunn, who made the long journey to Fife from Reay on the far northern coast of Scotland.
Sophie also won her match by 5 and 4, beating the last of the 16 qualifiers, Shannen McGuire (Canmore).
The Nos 3 and 4 seeds, Miranda Brain (Gog Magog) and Stephanie Farrar (Sandiway), also failed to survive their opening ties.
