UNIVERSITY HELD MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THOMAS SHARKEY

STATESBORO, Georgia - A memorial ceremony to honour Georgia Southern golfer Thomas Sharkey, 21, was held on Tuesday, August 30th, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Church, located at the corner of Gentilly Road and John Paul Avenue in Statesboro.

The event celebrated his life after he was tragically killed in a fire last month in his home town of Helensburgh in Scotland. 

"Thomas was a good team-mate, but a better friend to those who knew him," said Georgia Southern Golf Coach Larry Mays. "This was our chance to celebrate Thomas' life and share our memories of him."

A reception followed the memorial service.
