VICTORIA MALLETT WINS MIDLAND SOUTH GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMENS GOLF ASSOCIATION

Warwickshire’s Victoria Mallett won the Midlands South regional girls’ championship with a four-under par score at Coventry Golf Club.
The 13-year-old from Sutton Coldfield Ladies’ scored 70, 72 and was eight shots clear of her closest rival, Charlotte Hartshorn, (Atherstone, Warwickshire), who returned 72, 78.
The U15 scratch champion was Charlotte West (Harewood Downs, Buckinghamshire) with two rounds of 76. Ciara Kelly (Hagley, Worcestershire), who has just won the Abraham Trophy, was runner-up with a total of 157.
The new handicap champion is Alice Kozlowski (Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire) who posted net scores of 72, 71, while runner-up Emily Cotton (Northants County) was just behind with a net 75 and 69.
The Warwickshire trio of Victoria Mallett, Charlotte Taylor (Northants County) and Katrina Gani (Shirley) won the Handicap Team Trophy with a net total of 440.
rizes were presented by Jim Robinson, the chief executive of the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA). The championship was played on a very hot and humid day on a superbly prepared course. The CSS for both rounds went down to 74.
