LAUREN MACKIN EARNS 790 EUROS IN SPANISH TOUR EVENT

Lauren Mackin, the Majorca-based Scottish-born golfer who is now competing as a professional, finished joint eighth in the most recent event on Spain's Banesto Golf Tour, which is for female amateurs and professionals with one event per month.
The latest one, held on the picturesque island course - on an inland lake - at Isla Valdecanas.
Lauren, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, shot 75-73 for a four-over-par total of 148 over the undulating par-72 course. She won 790 Euros.
An amateur had the best two-round total - Teresa Cabeller (Spain) with rounds of 67 and 70 for seven-under-par 137.
Two Spanish pros came next: Maria Hernandez (72-69) and Raquel Carriedo (70-71) on 141. They must have had a play-off to decide who would get the top prize of 4,800 Euros because the Banesto Golf Tour website lists Maria as receiving 4,800 and Raquel 4,000 Euros.
Kirsty Fisher, son of a Scot, finished 12th with 77-73 for 150 and earned 520 Euros.
Claire Louise Aitken tied for 14th place with 77-75 for 152. She received 420 Euros.
There was a field of 23 players, of whom five were amateurs.
There are two events left on the 2011 Banesto Tour - at Barcelona from October 5 to 7 and Benidorm from November 3 to 6.
