SOUTH and EAST REGIONAL FINALS
Faithlegg win Miele Fourball Southern Regional final, Lucan win the Eastern Regional final
Castletroy, beaten at the semi final stage last year and keen to go two steps further, put up a stern challenge with Anne Marie Byrne and Mary O’Mahony winning the third match. However, Faithlegg showed strength in depth with Celia Hill and Pat Tilson securing a two-hole win on the home green.
Lucan’s pair of Patricia Collins and Kate Whyte were first home with an emphatic 8 and 7 winning margin but Wicklow’s Therese Porter and Anne Hollingsworth levelled the tie their own decisive 6 and 5 win. The first match was a nip and tuck affair with Lucan winning on the 19th but Wicklow won the last match on the course, also on the 19th. With the contest level at 2matches a piece, Lucan were announced winners on the “holes up” regulation.
The Miele All-Ireland semi-finals and final will take place in Kilkenny Golf Club, on October 8 and 9. The semi-final draw is:

Mountbellew -v- Lucan.Faithlegg’s Valerie Power played a super bunker shot for an up and down par on the 18th to secure her team a win in the top match.... in the second match Jenny Gleeson sank a 15ft birdie putt on the 15th hole to give Faithlegg a 2 hole advantage and with partner Eilis Strappe, the pair closed out the match on the next green.
