SCOTS STUDENTS 9th AND 20th IN NEW MEXICO SHOOTOUT

Odessa College, Texas team-mates Chris Bell from Carnoustie and Stuart McKechnie from Greenburn, West Lothian finished joint ninth and 20th respectively in a field of 66 players for the High Country Shootout men's college tournament at The Links @ Sierra Bianca Ruidoso, New Mexico at the weekend.
Chris shot rounds of 68, 72 and 70 for a six-under-par total of 210 over a par-72, 6757yd course. He finished eight shots behind the winner, Richard Farmer (Midland College) (67-69-66).
Stuart had rounds of 73, 70 and 72 for one-under 215.
Odessa and Midland (844 each) tied for fourth place in the team event won by Western Texas (830).

CHRIS ROBB FADES OUT OF THE PICTURE IN IOWA

Inchmarlo Golf Club member Chris Robb, a student at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, finished joint 31st in a field of 75 players at the Golfweek Conference Challenge men's college tournament at Spirit Hollow Golf Club, Burlington in Iowa today.
Robb, a former Scottish schoolboys champion, was only one shot off the lead with a first-round, three-under-par 69 but he faded over long course (7,010yd)to later rounds of 78 and 76 for 223 - 14 shots behind the winner and team-mate Stephan Jaeger who had scores of 67, 69 and 73 for seven-under 209.
Robb had a triple bogey 7 at the 11th in his second-round 78 and only one birdie in his closing effort.

Robb did help Chattanooga (866) finish second to Arkansas (858) in a field of 15 for the team event. Oklahoma State (867) finished third.



REES FOURTH IN SHOOTOUT AT LONG ISLAND NATIONAL
Welshman Thomas Rees (Post University, Connecticut) finished fourth in the Dowling September Shootout at Long Island National golf course (par 71, yardage 6945).
Thomas had a pair of 72s for a two-over-par total of 144 - only two shots behind the joint winners, Jeff Schaller (Concordia College) (71-71 for 142) and Kurt Brey (Dowling) (69-73).
Another Post University student, Ross Earnshaw from York finished T12 on 150 with scores of 77 and 73.
Post University (592) finished second behind team title winners St Thomas Aquinas (580) in a field of 18 teams.

GAMBLE JOINT 14TH AT WEBBER INTERCOLLEGIATE
Tom Gamble (Webber International University, Florida) from Walton-on-Thames finished T14 in a field of 78 players for the Webber Intercollegiate at Lake Wales Country Club, Florida.
Over a par 71, yardage 6,767 course, Tom had rounds of 74, 75 and 71 for 220, finished only four shots behind the winner, Elrick Van Eck (Northwood, Florida) who shot 71, 698 and 70 for three-under 210 to win by two shots.
Another Webber International student, Connor O'Dell from Taunton shared 42nd place on 228 with scores of 73, 80 and 75.
Also on 228 was Jack Bingham (South Carolina-Beaufort) from Stockport with scores of 71, 74 and 83.
Northwood (859) won the team title ahead of Coastal georgia (869) with Webber International 5th of nine on 879.

MARK GEDDES MAKES TOP TEN IN WASHINGTON STATE
Mark Geddes (Grand Canyon University, Arizona) finished 10th of 60 in the WWU Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Washington State.
Mark, from Cheshire, had rounds of 73 and 71 for 144, matching the par (2x72) over a 6,561yd course.
Compatriot Sam Whitehead, also a Grand Canyon student, shot 78 and 76 for 154 and a share of 43rd place.
Individual winner was Trevor Blair (CSU-Stanislaus) with 66 and 69 for nine-under-par 135.
CSU-Stanislaus (563) won the team event with Grand Canyon (584) fourth of 11 teams.

TOM BROWN JT 43rd IN MASON RUDOLPH CHAMPIONSHIP
Tom Brown (Ole Miss) from Hertfordshire finished joint 43rd in the Mason Rudolph College Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club, Franklin in Tennessee.
Tom scored 73, 75 and 73 for 221 - 16 shots behind the the winner by two, Hunter Green (Middle Tennessee) (70-68-67 for eight-under 205).
Middle Tennessee (844) won the team event by a single stroke from Ole Miss (845) in a field of 14 teams.
