ALL-IRELAND LADIES FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP AT KILKENNY
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION The finals of the Miele All-Ireland Ladies Fourball Championships get underway at Kilkenny this weekend when 32 lady golfers tee off with high hopes of claiming a national pennant for their Club.
The partnership between Míele and the ILGU sees this year's National Fourball competition continue to grow from strength to strength with almost three thousand golfers from across the North, East, South and West taking part.
Southern Region winners Faithlegg will face Northern winners Mannan Castle in the first of Saturday’s semi finals. Mannan Castle who reached this stage in 2009, took full advantage of their home venue at the Regional Final by convincingly defeating Killymoon.
Mountbellew, the Western Region champions, will face Eastern Champions Lucan who both progressed to the All-Ireland Finals thanks to narrow wins on a holes up basis in the Regional Finals.
ILGU Chief Executive Sinéad Heraty has been encouraged by the level of competitiveness and camaraderie displayed by the teams and players involved, ‘Our partnership with Miele has offered an unprecedented opportunity for players across the country to participate in an inter-club fourball and their commitment to the competition has been fuelled by unfailing support from fellow club members.”
Patrick McGrath, Chief Executive of Miele Ireland, concurred and expressed good-luck wishes to all teams in this year's finals at Kilkenny Golf Club.
