FAITHLEGG AND LUCAN REACH ALL-IRELAND FOUR-BALL FINAL

MIELE ALL-IRELAND FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
At Kilkenny Golf Club
Southern Region champions Faithlegg progressed to the final, defeating Northern Champions Mannan Castle on the “holes up” ruling after the teams tied the matches two and two.
Mannan Castle fought hard to win the last two matches – both one-hole victories.
However Faithlegg’s Jenny Gleeson and Jenny Strappe had a convincing 4 and 3 win over Roisin Brady and Mary Mac Namee, while top of the order pairing followed suit, winning on the 17th. Therefore, Faithlegg were six holes up against Mannan Castle’s 2.
Western champions Mountbellew and Eastern champions Lucan contested a tight semi-final. Mountbellew were up in the first and last matches through 15 and 11.
Lucan were up in the middle two matches with Molly Dowling and Catriona Graham getting off to a great start, winning the first hole with a birdie and continued their fine form to close out the match on the 15th with a 4 and 3 win.
Lucan's Sandra McCaffrey and Grace Mulhearn, the first pairing. turned their match around to win on the first extra hole. With the last match 2 and 1 in favour of Mountbellew and the second match playing the 19th, Lucan were guaranteed their place in the final against Faithlegg on holes up and with light failing they conceded this match to Mountbellew
