JESSICA SCHIELE'S US HAT-TRICK OF WINS EQUALS RECORD

FROM THE OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY SPORTS WEBSITE
OKLAHOMA CITY – Jessica Schiele of Oklahoma City University secured her third win in three starts in the Oklahoma City Stars Fall Classic on Tuesday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
Schiele, pictured right, a junior (third year) student from Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, England, finished with a 71-74–145 to lead the five-time NAIA women's golf champion Stars to their second win in three events this season.
OCU fired a 298-300–598 to end 12 strokes ahead of second-place Western Texas. Savannah Art and Design (Georgia) took third place, while Lubbock Christian (Texas) was fourth.
Schiele knocked in birdies on the par-3, 150yd second hole and the par-5, 460-yd fifth hole to end the tournament with five birdies. Temperatures reached the lower 70s under mostly sunny skies on the par-72, 6,081yd lay-out.
“I'm really proud of how the girls fought today,” OCU coach Marty McCauley said. “The course was very difficult, and a 300 is a great team score. For Jessica to go undefeated this fall is simply amazing.”
Kendra Mann gave OCU the top two individuals in the tournament by shooting a second-place 75-72–147. Mann, a freshman from Harrah, Oklahoma, pounded in an eagle on the par-4, 324-yard third hole.
“I didn't get a chance to see it,” Mann said. “I brought my chipping clubs because I thought I had hit the ball over the ball, but after looking for it, I realized the ball was in the hole.”
McCauley said, “Kendra stepped up and put two great rounds together. It was nice to have a freshman turn in that kind of performance.”
OCU concluded the fall season with two wins in three events.
EDITOR'S NOTES:
Rachel Hanlon from St Andrews - a freshman student at Western Texas College, finished joint 22nd in the field of 70 with scores of 76 and 83 for 159.

Some research by Lyndsey Hewison of the English Women's Golf Association has revealed that Jessica Schiele's three wins in a row has been done before - and fairly recently - by another English-born student, Katie Mundy (Dunwood Manor, Hampshire) when she was at Western Texas College and before her transfer to Florida International University).
In 2009, Katie's recored in five consecutive tournamens was - 1st-7th-1st-1st-1st.
Thanks, Lyndsey!
