Baylor University's women's golf coach must be grateful for the recruitment of Hayley Davis from Dorset, one of England's top young players, having won the English women's amateur championship in 2010 and the English girls' title this year.
Hayley, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, has settled very quickly at their Waco campus in Texas and has achieved three top-10 finishes in her first three appearances on the US college circuit.
Her latest tournament was the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate - a title sponsor that means absolutely nothing on this side of the Atlantic - at the New Mexico State University course at Las Cruces. It's a par-72 of 6,258yd.
One of Hayley's team-mates senior Jaclyn Jansen tied for victory on five-under-par 211 with Kayla Mortellaro (Idaho). Jaclyn scored 70-71-70 and Kayla 70-70-71. No word of a play-off - they seemed to doing away with them over there.
Hayley tied for ninth place place on 218 with scores of 75, 69 and 74.
Another English-born player, Gemma Hardie (Central Arkansas) from Scunthorpe shot 80, 78 and 80 for 238 which gave her joint 72nd place in a field of 90 players.
Of course, for US college coaches, team results are more important than individual glory, and another offshoot of Hayley's arrival at Baylor is that the team are winning again. This was Baylor's second straight team win, finishing only one stroke ahead of Idaho. It's the first time since the spring of 2009 that Baylor have registered back-to-back team wins and the first time since 2004 that Baylor have won two in a row in the autumn schedule.
+Hayley has already been the Conference player of the month.
