KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — American Brittany Lang shot a 5-under 66 to tie three others for the lead after the opening round at the LPGA Malaysia today.
Europeans Maria Hjorth (Sweden) and Dewi-Claire Schreefel (Netherlands) as well as Na Yeon Choi also shot 66 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. They have a one-shot lead over American player Paige Mackenzie and Spain's Azahara Munoz.
Top-ranked Yani Tseng of Taiwan shot a 69 to finish three strokes behind the leaders, alongside defending champion Jimin Kang of South Korea.
English player Melissa Reid had a hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth on her way to a 72. But that stroke of luck still left her in joint 32nd place.
North Berwick's Catriona Matthew had a two-under-par 70 to be just inside the top 20 at T19.
Laura Davies and Karen Stupples were T44 on the 74 mark.
