Sammy Vass from Tain in the North of Scotland - north of Inverness - has achieved her highest ever finish on the United States women's college golf circuit.
The former Scotland junior international, now a junior (third-year) student at Gardner-Webb University, North Carolina, finished joint second in a field of 45 players at the Winthrop University Intercollegiate women's tournament over 36 holes at Rock Hill Country Club, South Carolina this past weekend.
Over a par-72, 6007yd course, Sammy had rounds of 78 and 72 for a total of 150, matching that of team-mate Meghan Allum as they finished second, just a shot behind the winner, Lauren Smith (Appalachian State University) who scored 71 and 78 for 149.
Welsh girl international Rachel Lewis (USC Upstate) from Cardiff tied for 15th place on 159 with scores of 81 and 78.
Sammy (pictured) and Meghan's performance helped Gardner-Webb (615) win the title team ahead of Winthrop (620) in a field of eight teams.
