Alasdair Dalgliesh from West Sussex - a second-year student at Oklahoma Christian University, scored his first US college tournament victory at Rivers Oaks Golf Club, Edmond, Oklahoma yesterday.
(Dalgliesh is the family way of spelling the name, before you correct me!)
Alasdair, who has umpteen relations in Scotland - his grandfather comes from Edinburgh, shot rounds of 71, 65 and 71 for a six-under-par total of 207 over a par-71 (6698yd) course in the Oklahoma Christian University Intercollegiate.
Haywards Heath Golf Club member Dalgliesh, pictured left, who won a couple of 36-hole open tournaments in Sussex during his summer holidays back home, had two shots to spare over the field at Edmond.
Londoner Yousaf Khan (Grand View University) finished joint 27th on 222 with scores of 75, 69 and 78.
Dalgliesh's Oklahoma Christian team-mate Sam Russell, a sophomore from East Sussex and a member at Royal Eastbourne GC, finished T42 on 226 with scores of 73, 78 and 75.
Andrew Abercrombie, from Glasgow and a former pupil or Largs Academy, now a senior-year student at Southern Nazarene University, shot 78, 71 and 78 for 227 and a share of 45th place.
Oklahoma Christian scored a double whammy adding the team title to Dalgliesh's individual victory. It was their second team win of the 2011-2012 season. They now have a winter break until they return to action next spring.
