ANGUS LADEIS BEAT ANGUS BOYS IN FIRST OF FOUR MATCHES
FROM JACKIE SMITH
In an effort to give both sets of players some competitve golf over the winter months, the Angus boys' and ladies' teams began a series of four matches over the sunny Monifieth links on Sunday.
The Angus ladies host the North Divisional ladies county team championships over the Monifieth links in June 2012 and the boys are keen to follow on from a much improved season result-wise.
The course offered a tough test. Even though we are into November the course is still at almost its full length! Mary Summers, the ladies team manager, even requested that the ladies used the men's tees at 2, 5, 14 and 15.
The golf from both sets of players was of a great standard, with the ladies coming out the winners by 3 games to 2.
Highlights for the boys were a good win in the top match from Calum McKay and Connar Cook over the ladies' top pairing of Ann Ramsay and Claire Penman. For the ladies, Katie Reid and Louise Smith played great golf to win by 4 and 3 against John Miller and Tom Ogilvie.
Due to a couple of no-shows, boys convenor Alex McKay and ladies official Jane Grubb had to step in to make up the numbers for last game. Alex, in partnership with Graeme Walker, managed a win over Jane and Jessica Meek.
The next match is due to be played on December 4.
