HEATHER MacRAE''S TOP 20 FINISH IN SPAIN

By COLIN FARQUHARSON Colin@scottishgolfview.com Winner of the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Nairn in 2005, Heather MacRae (pictured) achieved a top-20 finish in the seventh and and last event of the 2011 Spanish Banesto women's professional golf tour at Villaitana Golf Club, Alicante today. The Gleneagles player shot rounds of 71, 75 and 73 for a total of three-over-par 219, which gave her a joint 19th place final position in the field of 48 players. Unfortunately, that was just outside the prizemoney list Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll shared 34th place on 227 with rounds of 76, 76 and 75. She had an eagle 3 at the seventh in her final round. Majorca-based Scot Lauren Mackin finished 38th on 228 with rounds of 78, 78 and 72. The winner of the rain-affected tournament, which saw no first round completed on Friday because of flooding, was Spain's Raquel Carriedo with a total of 11-under-par 205 (67-69-69). Leading British player was Rhian Wyn Thomas from Wales in joint third place on 209 with scores of 69, 72 and 68. England's Claire-Louise Aitken was the most successful British player over the complete circuit. She finished 11th on the money table with 3,580 Euros from seven events. Ireland's Tara Delaney finished 16th with 2,446 Euros from six events. Lauren Macklin won 1,383 Euros from five events. Katy McNicoll won 530 Euros from two events and Heather MacRae 330 Euros, also from two events. Raquel Carriedo (Spain) was the leading money-winner for the Spanish domestic season with 14,022 Euros in winnings. She played in all seven events on the mini-tour.
