SAM STRACHAN HAS HAD THREE TOP-10 FINISHES SINCE AUGUST

Sam Strachan from Aberdeenshire, halfway through his third year at Huntingdown College, Montgomery in Alabama, ha played well during the first half of the 2011-2012 US college golf season, writes Colin Farquharson (Colin@scottishgolfview.com).
Sam, pictured right, has achieved finishes of third (Rhodes Fall Classic ), tied eighth (Royal Lakes Fall Classic), tied 10th (Golfweek Fall Invitational) and joint 32nd (Division 3 National Championship Preview) in fields numbering between 90 and 100 players.
The four events took Sam to the states of Georgia, Mississippi and Florida twice. If you want to see America at somebody else's expense, play for a US college golf team!
A member of Inverallochy and Murcar Links golf clubs, Sam, runner-up to Chris Robb (also now at college in America) in the Scottish schoolboys championship at Inchmarlo three or four years ago, won the individual title in the North/North-east/Angus youths invitational team championship during his summer holidays back home.
His dad, John, currently working in Brazil or, to be more precise, offshore in Brazil, is keen that Sam should progress his golf in the States after he finishes college in another 20 months.
