Golfstat.com has ranked Oklahoma Christian University’s sophomore (second-year) student Alasdair Dalgliesh from West Sussex as the top collegiate golfer in the state of Oklahoma and the NAIA as of the end of November.
The website, recognised as the official source for American college golf scores and statistics, has Dalgliesh (pictured above) at No 25 in its nationwide Golfstat Cup standings, which ranks college golfers throughout the US, based on adjusted scoring average.
Dalgliesh, who has a grandfather from Edinburgh and "loads of relations in Scotland," posted a 71.00 adjusted scoring average during eight rounds for the Eagles (nickname for the Oklahoma Christian University sports teams) during the 2011-2012 autumn season.
Dalgelish, a member of Haywards Heath Golf Club, Sussex, scored his first win in America at the River Oaks Intercollegiate tournament at Edmond, Oklahoma on November 1 with rounds of 71-65-71 for a six-under-par total of 207 over a par-71 course.
Previous winners of the Golfstat Cup include US PGA Tour standouts Tiger Woods (1995-96), Matt Kuchar (1997-98), Luke Donald (1998-99), Charles Howell III (1999-2000), Graeme McDowell (2001-02), Hunter Mahan (2002-03) and Rickie Fowler (2007-08).
+Dalgliesh is the family way of spelling the Scottish surname of Dalgleish.
