ANGUS BOYS BEAT ANGUS LADIES 5-1 AT MONIFIETH

On a fine but bitterly cold day on the Monifieth Links, the Angus County Boys team made amends for their defeat from the Angus ladies team last month with a convincing win over the ladies yesterday in the second of a series of four winter matches.
With limited daylight it was the decision was made that each match would be decided by holes up through the 15th. Due to two late call-offs from the boys, the last two matches featured one boy against two ladies.
Gavin Petrie, the Angus boys county match-play champion and youngest in the boys team at 14, deserves a special mention for a four-hole win on his own against the experienced Kathleen Sutherland and Francis Miller.
It was also good to see 13 year old Claire Robertson turn out for the ladies and give a good account of herself.
The next match is due to be played on February 5.
