ROEHAMPTON GIRL WINS JUNIOR HONDA AGE TITLE IN FLORIDA
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
English Under-13 girls champion Sammy Fuller has won the 13-and-under title at the 2011 Junior Honda Classic at the PGA National in West Palm Beach Florida.
The 12-year-old from Roehampton won by five shots and adds the title to her success in last year’s 11-and-under event. Sammy, who plays off two, had a rollercoaster first round of two-under par 70, which was the lowest round from any competitor, and consisted of one eagle, six birdies, three double bogies and eight pars.
The highlight was holing a 140 yard eight-iron over water on the tough seventh hole. The second round was less adventurous with Sammy shooting three over par 75.
Meanwhile, her younger sister Annabell tied for first place in 9-and-under section but lost on the fifth play-off hole. Her opponent holed out from the bunker to take the title.
