NEW LET ACCESS SERIES EVENT FOR FINLAND AUGUST 9-11

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR 

The LET Access Series is delighted to announce a new tournament on its 2012 schedule.

The Women’s Bank Open by Catmandoo hosted by HLR Golf Academy will be played at Hill Side Golf Club near Helsinki, Finland, from the 9^th-11th August with a minimum prize fund of €30,000.

The main sponsor of the event, HLR Golf Academy, is run by former LET player Hanna-Leena Ronkainen, who played on Tour under her maiden name of Salonen.

The event will be part of a charity campaign run by the Finnish Golf Union and the Women’s Bank Charity, which was launched four years ago to create jobs and support for women in developing countries. 

Tour Director Di Barnard said that it would be exciting to work with the Women’s Bank Charity: a charitable fund that uses its donations to enhance women’s rights, skills and livelihoods.

“This goes hand in hand with what LETAS is trying to achieve in helping to develop the skills of young upcoming golf professionals and assist in the pursuit of a career in professional golf,” Barnard said. 

“We are also extremely pleased to be working with the Finnish Golf Union, who will arrange several events related to the development of women’s golf in Finland during the tournament week.”

The promoter of the Women’s Bank Open, Juha Juvonen, was thrilled to be working with LETAS and the Women’s Bank Charity.

“We are sure that this event will become a success and have a continuation in 2013 and after that,” said Mr. Juvonen. 

The full LETAS schedule will be released during the last week of January 2012.
