JAMES ROSS OFF FORM AT RICE INTERCOLLEGIATE
Edinburgh golfer James Ross, now a student at Houston University, had his worst competition of the season this past week.
He finished last of the five Houston players in the field of 81 players at the Rice Intercollegiate over a par-72, 7184yd course at Westwood Golf Club, Houston.
Ross, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, shot 75-73-77 for a nine-over-par total of 225 to finish 51st.
The Scot finished 15 shots behind the two players who topped the leaderboard, Eric Chun (Northwestern) (71-70-69) and Zachery Fullerton (New Mexico State) (68-74-68). Fullerton won the individual title at the third hole of a sudden-death play-off.
Ross's off-form display contributed to Houston finished second instead of winning the team title. Northwestern (862) were the winners by a four-shot margin over Houston who finished 11 shots ahead of third-placed Florida Gulf Coast in a field of 15 teams.
