HAYLEY DAVIS LEADING BRIT IN ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL ROUND 1



Hayley Davis from Dorset, a freshman student at Baylor University, Texas, was best placed of the four British players competing in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf and Country Club, New Orleans.
Hayley, pictured right, matched the par of 72 over the 6,105yd course in the first of three rounds.
She was three shots behind the leader, Cali Hipp (Oregon), in joint sixth position.
US Curtis Cup selector for the Nairn match in June, Lindy Duncan (Duke) was T10) on 73.
Aberdeen's Gemma Dryburgh, playing for the host Tulane University team, had a 75 to be sharing 27th place.
Stephanie Meadow (Alabama) from Northern Ireland, who will be playing in the GB and I Curtis Cup selection trial at The Nairn GC next month, had a 76, the same score as England's Raphaela Dyer (Oregon). They were sharing 35th place in a field of 83 players.
