PAUL LAWRIE SUPPORT A BIG HELP TO LAURA IN 2012 CAMPAIGN

Swimming pool lifeguard Laura Murray, a member of the title-winning Scotland women's golf team in 2010, the year she also won the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews, will continue to receive support from the Paul Lawrie Foundation this year.
And she knows the backing will make a difference in what she hopes will be her swansong in the amateur ranks.
Laura, from Alford, has had assistance from the PLF for the last couple of years.
“We know that Laura works hard on her game and we hope she can go on to more success in 2012,” said Iain Powell, manager of the foundation.
Murray has contemplated going to the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School for the past couple of years.
“My view is that I want to go there when my game is good enough to give me a chance of winning a place on the LET. That hasn’t been the case so far,” said Laura whose part-time employment at Kippie Lodge Sports Club, Milltimber helps her to make ends meet.
“I'll be playing in all the top amateur tournaments in 2012, so that’s a busy season ahead. My plans for turning pro are always to go to tour school off the back of a strong season, which I'm more confident of this year than any other after my winter practice and North-east Alliance performances.
“With the much appreciated continued support of the Paul Lawrie Foundation, I feel I will have a lot to offer this coming season.”
The scheduling of the Aberdeenshire women’s county championship at Balgownie for the same late April weekend as the “Helen Holm” Scottish stroke-play at Troon means that Laura Murray will miss the local event in which she was beaten finalist at Murcar Links last year.
The Paul Lawrie Foundation also supports a group of young North-east male pros trying to make their way in the game - David Law, Philip McLean, Kris Nicol and Ross Cameron as well as Grantown-based Duncan Stewart.
