TOP TEN FINISH BY ABERDEEN GIRL IN LADY COUGAR CLASSIC

Deeside's Megan Clyne finished joint eighth in a field of 62 players at this week's Lady Cougar Classic golf tournament at the Country Club of Columbus, Georgia.
Megan, pictured, a freshman student at Montevallo University, Alabama, had rounds of 80 and 79 for 159, finishing 11 shots behind the winner, Nikki Crowley (Columbus State) who had rounds of 73 and 75 for a four-over par total of 148 over a par-72 course of 5,821yd.
Nikki won by two shots from Meghan Moore (UNC-Pembroke) (78-72).
Emma Breen, from Swindon and a junior-year team-mate of Megan Clyne at Montevallo. finished 24d on 165 with rounds of 82-83.
UNC-Pembroke (629) won the team title ahead of Lander (875) with Shorter and Colombus State joint third on 639. Montevello (661) finished sixth in a field of 12 teams.

LINZI AND MEGAN MAKE TOP 15 AT AUSTIN, TEXAS

Megan Birdseye from Bedfordshire and Linzi Allan from Ayrshire, both students at Newman University, Wichita, finished in the top 15 at the St Edward's Invitational at Grey Rock GC, Austin, Texas.
Over a par-71 lay-out of 6,060yd, Linzi had rounds of 79 and 80 for 159 and a share of 11th place.
Megan had a pair of 80s for 160 and joint 13th place.
A third Newman student, Alyssa Balding from Northumberland shot contrasting rounds of 76 and 92 for 168 and a jt 38th place finish in a field of 84 players.
The event was won by five shots by Spencer Beller (Sonoma State) with scores of 76 and 71 for five-over 147.
Newman University tied for third place in a field of 15 teams.

KEVIN PHELAN JT SIXTH AT SAWGRASS

Kevin Phelan (North Florida) from Waterford, Ireland finished joint sixth in a field of 87 players at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass CC, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Kevin shot 73-72-70 for a total of one-under-par 215 over a 6,977yd course.
Jason Shufflebotham (Alabama-Birmingham) from Wales just squeezed into the top 20 - jt 19th to be precise - on 221 with scores of 78-73-70.
Kevin Phelan's Irish compatriot, Paul Dunne (Alabama-Birmingham) from Greystones shared 22nd place with scores of 74-71-77 for 222.
Garrick Porteous (Tennessee) from Bamburgh Castle in the NE of England, finished T36 with 76-75-73 for 224.
Arkansas won the team title ahead of Central Florida and North Florida in a field of 15 teams.

FORREST JUST OUTSIDE TOP 10 IN CALIFORNIA
North Berwick's Grant Forrest, a freshman student at San Diego University, California, finished joint 12th in a field of 72 at this week's North Ranch Intercollegiate golf tournament at North Ranch GC, Westlake Village in California.
Over a par-70 lay-out of 6,728yd, Forrest, Scottish boys' match-play champion in 2010, had rounds of 69, 73 and 77 for a nine-over-par total of 219 - seven shots behind the winner, Matt Hoffenberg (San Diego State) (68-73-73). Helsinki-born Linus Vaisanen, a San Diego team-mate of Forrest and winner of the Scottish boys' stroke-play title, also in 2010, finished joint seventh on 218 with scores of 74, 75 and 69.
Tom Berry (San Diego State) from Surrey finished on 228 (74-81-73) for a T34 final position.
A third Scottish boys title-winner in the field, Paul Ferrier (Charlotte), the 2007 Under-18 match-play champion from Baberton, finished joint 52nd with scores of 78, 82 and 78 for 236.
San Diego State provided the 1-2-3 in the individual event and won the team title, five shots ahead of their great rivals, San Diego in a field of 14 teams.

ADAM HEDGES SHARES THIRD PLACE IN GEORGIA

Adam Hedges (Belmont Abbey College) from Bromley finished joint third ina  field of 75 at the Armstrong Pirates' Invitational at Savannah Quarters Country Club, Dooler in Georgia.
Over a par-71 course of 6,897yd, Hedges shot 69-73 for 142 - five shots behind the winner by four, Patrick Garrett (Georgia College) (71-66).
Scott Lambert (UNC-Pembroke) from Matfen Hall, Northumbereland, tied for fifth place on 143 with rounds of 69 and 74.
Chris McManus from Bearsden, a student at Clayton State University, Atlanta, finished joint 24th with 77 and 74 for 151.
Former Stirling University student Clark Nelson, also a Clayton State student, finished joint 35th on 153 with scores of 79 and 74.

Earnshaw makes top 20 at Irish Creek Intercollegiate

Ross Earnshaw (Post University) from York finished joint 17th in a field of 68 players at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate tournament at The Club of Irish Creek, Concord in North Carolina.
Over a par-71 lay-out of 7,099yd, Earnshaw had rounds of 75 and 74 for 149.
Matthew Reid from Dundee, a student at Belmont Abbey College, Charlotte in North Carolina, finished joint 32nd on 154 with scores of 81-73.

Sam Whitehead joint 10th in Coyote Classic

Sam Whitehead (Grand Canyon) from Milton Keynes finished joint 10th in a field of 92 players at the Coyote Classic at Arrowhead CC, San Bernardino, California.
Sam scored 73-75-68 for 216 over a par 70 course of 6,537yd.
Michael O'Connor (Western New Mexico) from Hayes, Middlesex, finished T20 on 218 with scores of 74-72-72.
Winner by six shots with a total of five-under 205 (70-68-67) was Kyle Souza (Chico State).
Grand Canyon finished second to chico State, the team title winners in a field of 17.

Kristopher Gray just outside top 20 in South Carolina

Kristopher Gray (Gardner-Webb) from Newcastle finished T21 in a field of 90 for the Charleston Shootout at Links at Stono Ferry, Hollywood in South Carolina.
Kristopher shot 75-74-72 for 221 and finished 15 shots behind the winner, T J Vogel (Florida) (69-6572) for 10-under 206.
Florida also won the team title ahead of Augusta State and third-placed Radford. Gardner-Webb tied for eight place in a field of 14 teams.

JESS SCHIELE JOINT FOURTH IN TEXAS

Jess Schiele (Oklahoma City) from Grimsby finished joint fourth in a field of 77 players at the Islander Classic at Corpus Christi CC, Texas.
Over a par-72 course of 6,093 yd, Jess shot three steady rounds of 76-75-75 for 226 - six shots behind the joint winners, both San Antonio students, Summer Batiste (75-74-71) and Taylor Newlin (72-73-75).
Nikki Dunn (Texas A and M) from Harrogate finished joint 13th on 231 with scores of 77, 75 and79.
Rachael McQueen (McLennan CC) from Ayrshire came T26 on 234 with rounds of 77-79-78.
Gemma Hardie (Central Arkansas) from Scunthorpe finished 31st on 237 with scores of 80-81-76.
San Antonio won the team title by a big margin from Lamar and third placed Texas A and M.
Central Arkansas finsiehd sixth and Oklahoma City ninth in a field of 14 teams.
