WHO WAS SEVENTH SCOTTISH POST-WAR WINNER OF "BRITISH?"

By COLIN FARQUHARSON

Even so-called experts on women's amateur golf will tell you that there have been sic Scots-born winners of the British women's open amateur championship since World War II, namely:
1952 Moira Paterson
1955 and 1958 Jessie Valentine
1976 Cathy Panton.
1981 Belle Robertson
1993 Catriona Lambert
1997 Alison Rose

But information recently came into my possession which amends that total to SEVEN ... born in Scotland, this person won the British title not once but twice, and in successive years.
Get your thinking caps on. This could become a great pub quiz question.
(Do ladies who are experts on amateur golf frequent pubs? Perhaps not!)
All will be revealed shortly in a feature on Kirkwoodgolf
