JESSICA SCHIELE PIPPED FOR VICTORY IN LADY EAGLE INVITATIONL

Grimsby's Jessica Schiele has turned in another good performance on the US college golf circuit.
She finished second - only one stroke behind the winner - in the 36-hole Lady Eagle Invitational at Hattiesburg Country Club, Mississippi this week.
Jessica, pictured right, a student at Oklahoma City University, had rounds of 72 and 73 for one-over-par 145. The winner, Brandi Rodriguez (Southern Mississippi) shot a pair of 72s for level par 144.
There were 75 players in the field.
Neither Southern Mississippi nor Oklahoma City were able to win the team title. That went to Troy by a nine-stroke margin from Southern Mississippi. Oklahoma City finished 14 shots behind the winners in fifth place in a field of 14 teams.



Jenna Birch seventh equal at Charlotte, North Carolina

Jenna Birch (Armstrong Atlantic University), a sophomore student from Fleetwood, Lancashire, finished joint seventh in a field of 82 players at the Dana Raider Intercollegiate at Ballantyne Resort, Charlotte in North Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 5,845 yd, Jenna, pictured left, scored 75-77 for 152, only three shots behind three players who headed the scoreboard on 149: Chelsea Demors (Pfeiffer (75-74), Emelie Andersson (Mount Olive) (74-75) and Kelly Pearse (Armstrong Atlantic) (75-74).
Steph Peareth (Pfeiffer) from Durham finished T13 with scores of 80-75 for 155.




Anna Carling celebrates Arkansas State team win

Anna Carling (Arkansas State), from the Vale of Glamorgan club, finished T16 in a field of 78 at the Jackrabbit Invitational college tournament at Primm Valley GC, Nevada.
Anna had rounds of 79, 76 and 72 for a total of 237 over the par-72, 6,181yd Lakes course.
Monica Jung (Southern Utah) was the winner with scores of 69-73-74 for level par 216 - a shot ahead of US Curtis Cup team selection for the Nairn match, Amy Anderson (North Dakota State) (74-76-66).
The third-placed player was some 11 shots behind Anderson whose 66 was the lowest round of the tournament.
Anna Carling did have something to celebrate at the finish - Arkansas State University won the team title by three shots from Oral Roberts in a field of 14 teams.



Linzi and Megan joint 15th at Pottsboro, Texas
Linzi Allan from Ayrshire and Megan Birdsey  from Bedfordshire - both students at Newman University, Wichita in Kansas, finished joint 15th in a big field of 113 players at the Texoma Chevy Dealers Intercollegiate at Tanglewood Resort, Pottsboro in Texas.
Over a par-72, 5803yd course, Linzi shot 85-78 and Megan, pictured left,  82-83 for 163 - 12 shots behind the winner by three, Rebecka Surtrevall (Arkansas Tech) (73-78 for 151).
There were two other British student-golfers in the field. Elizabeth Sweetnam (Arkansas Tech) from London finished T28 with scores of 85-81 while Alyssa Balding (Newman) finished T42 on 170 (87-83).
Arkansas Tech finished fourth of 20 behind team winners Tarleton State while Newman were joint fifth.
