CATRIONA HEADS FOR EARLY EXIT FOR SECOND WEEK IN ROW
Catriona Matthew missed the cut on the LPGA Tour last week - and the North Berwick player looks to be on her way to another early exit in this week's Kia Classic at Carlsbad, California.
Not encouraging form with the first major of the LPGA Tour season - the Kraft Nabisco - coming up next week.
Catriona, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, shot a first-round, seven-over-par 79 with only one birdie (at the short sixth) and eight bogeys: third, fourth, fifth, 10th, 11th, 13th, 16th and 18th.
Laura Davies is in the same position - joint 126th.
In fact, apart from a sparkling two-under-par 70 by Jodi Ewart it was not a good day for the Brits.
Becky Morgan (Wales) is T60 after a 74.
Janice Moodie (Scotland) and Melissa Reid) are T90 after 76s.
Sharing the lead at five-under 67 are Ji Young Oh (South Korea), world No 1 Yani Tseng (Taiwan) and Sweden's fast-rising star Caroline Hedwall.
