CATRIONA MAKES UP SOME GROUND IN CALIFORNIA

Catriona Matthew only just survived the halfway cut in this weekend's LPGA Tour event, the Kia Classic in California - but the North Berwick player made a significant move up the scoreboard with a four-under-par round of 68 on Saturday.
Catriona is now lying T23 on 217, her scores showing her rate of improvement - 79, 70 and 68.
Yani Tseng (Taiwan) lads by three after a 69 for 12-under-par 204.
Caroline Hedwall (Sweden) is the leading European in joint third place on 209 after a 70 for 209.
Jodi Ewart made no headway with a third-r0und 73, the same score as Irish-born former US Curtis Cup player Alison Walsh. They are sharing sixth place on 212.
