CHRIS BELL MAKES TOP TEN AT SUGAR TREE GOLF CLUB IN TEXAS

Carnoustie's Chris Bell, a student at Odessa College, Texas, finished joint seventh in a field of 64 players at the NJCAA District 2 preview golf tournament at Sugar Tree GC, Dennis in Texas this week.
Bell had rounds of 73 and 72 for 145, five shots behind the winner by two, Mathias Boesmans (Western Texas) (70-70 for 140).
Next best of the bunch of Brits in this event was Luke Richardson (Midland College, Texas), a sophomore from Essex. He finished just inside the top 20, T19 to be president in a field of 64 players. Luke had scores of 75-74 for 149.
Paul Lawrie's nephew Sean Lawrie, pictured right, also a student at Midland College, finished joint 23rd with scores of 77 and 74 for 151.
Stuart McKechnie (Odessa), a freshman from Fauldhouse, West Lothian, had a pair of 76s for 152 and 29th place.
Richie Farmer (Midland), a freshman from Brighton,  finished T34 with 76-78 for 154.
Bell's effort helped Odessa win the team title with Midland sixth of 10 teams.

PERTH PAIR FINISH IN TOP 20 IN GEORGIA

Perth pair Daniel Young and Paul McPhee, both students at Lynn University, Boca Raton in Florida, finished 19th and joint 20th respectively in a field of 75 players at this week's Southeastern Collegiate tournament at Kinderlou Forest GC, Valdosta in Georgia.

Young, pictured left, had rounds of 73, 71 and 74 for a two-over-par tally of 218 over a course of 7,145yd while McPhee scored 76-72-71 for 219.
Tyler Chandler (North Alabama) won the title by five shots with an outstanding 13-under-par total of 203 (67-67-69).
Lynn finished third of 14 in the team event behind winners North Alabama and second-placed Barry.




Grant Forrest just outside top 20 finish at Santa Fe

Former Scottish boys' champion Grant Forrest from North Berwick, a student at San Diego University, California, shot 76-76-72 for an eight-over-par total of 224 in The Farms Invitational college tournament at The Farms GC, Rancho Santa Fe, California.
He finished 22nd in a field of 78 players, 12 shots behind the winner J J Spann (San Diego State) (72-72-68 for 212).
Tom Berry (San Diego State), pictured right,  finished joint sixth with scores of 77, 70 and 71 for 218. Berry, a sophomore student from Surrey, had the joint best score in the second round.
San Diego State also won the team title with rivals San Diego sixth of 14.




TOM GAMBLE MAKES TOP 10 IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Tom Gamble (Webber International) from Walton on Thames finished joint ninth in a field of 70 players at the Sand Shark Classic at Chechessee Creek Club in Okatie, South Carolina.
Tom, pictured left, shot 73-70-79 for 221 over the par-71 course of 6,570yd.
Webber team-mate Connor O'Dell from Taunton Somerset finished T13 with scores of 71, 80 and 72 for 223.
Senior-year student Jack Bingham (South Carolina-Beaufort) finished T15 on 224 (74-75-75).
Team-mate Mark Phillips won by three strokes with a total of 214 and scores of 71-73-70.
Mark and Jack's efforts helped South Carolina Beaufort to win the team title with Webber International 17 shots behind them in third place in a field of 11 teams.


GRAND CANYON ENGLISHMEN SHARE 29th PLACE


Grand Canyon University, Arizona students Mark Geddes, a sophomore from Chestire and Sam Whitehead, pictured right, a sophomore from Milton Keynes, tied for 29th place on 234 in the 62nd SoCal Intercollegiate Championship Division 2 competition at Mission Viejo Country Club, California.
Over a par-71 course in excess of 7,000yd (7143 to be precise), Geddes hadrounds of 75, 81 and 78, while Whitehead scored 78, 82 and 74.
Alex Marry (Sonoma State) headed a field of 76 players by four shots with scores of 71-73-74 for five-over 218.
Grand Canyon finished second to CSU-Stanislaus in the team event, contested by 14 squads.




Tiffany Hewetson third at Wigwam Resort, Arizona




Tiffany Hewetson (Grand Canyon) from Brighton finished third with a round of four-over-par 76 in the 18-hole Dutch Desert Shootout women's college event at Wigwam Resort, Lichfield Park, Arizona.
Only three universities took part - Grand Canyon (299), Bradley (321) and Central College (350) - and that's how they finished in the team event.
Grand Canyon provided the first six in the individual event with Charlotte Jaengkit leading the way with a one-under-par 71 over the 6291yd course. She won by three from team-mate Eryn Olson with Tiffany (pictured left) third. A field of 26 players took part.

Abbey Gittings joint fourth at PGA National, Florida



Abbey Gittings (Nova Southeastern ) from Warwickshire finished joint fourth in the individual section of the Harvard v Nova Southeastern match over 18 holes at PGA National, North Palm Beach, Florida.
Abbey, pictured left, had a seven-over 79 over the 6130yd course. Team-mate Lillian Camista had the best score of 74. Harvard (311) beat Nova Southeastern (322).

Steph Peareth sixth at Concord, North Carolina

Steph Peareth (Pfeiffer) from Durham finished sixth individually in the Pfeiffer v West Chester 18-hole match at Club of Irish Creek, Concord, North Carolina.
Pfeiffer (325) beat West Chester (346).
Steph, pictured right, had a round of 87. Best individual score was a four-over-par 71 by Chelsea Demers (Pfeiffer).
