CURTIS CUP TEAMS CHOSEN MUCH EARLIER THAN THEY USED TO BE

Personally, I don't agree with so many amateur invites (five) being handed out in the Kraft Nabsico tournament but there was an incident I think before I was out on tour where a pro with very, very low LPGA status knew someone high up in the tournament or Kraft and was given an invite, then finished third or so. The player made a huge cheque and got into all the tournaments the rest of the year.
This stuck in the throats of a lot of girls and the sponsor received a lot of complaints from some LPGA pros, saying it wasn't fair etc.
So the pros shot themselves in the foot. The sponsor, to avoid this situation again, said "Fine. We'll go this other way, giving amateurs and pros from the LET, JLPGA, KLPGA etc the spots instead."
As a professional trying to make a living, this is very frustrating. We can't even Monday qualify to get in, but I guess that's why majors become so prestigious.
I guess on another point I am surprised the (GB and I) team would be picked so early. I am very surprised the Americans have already announced their team. I do remember the nervous wait through the Helen Holm, St Rule, Scottish amateur championship, etc before anything was picked.
Why the pressure to pick the GB and I team so early, or as early as March? I would want the hot player with lots of confidence. I just want the Curtis Cup back. It's been too long.
