A strong northwest wind made it a tough test for the girls and the greens were firm and fast.
Heather Munro finished strongly with birdies at the 13th, 15th and 16th after a double bogey at the 11th.
Lauren Whyte had five birdies in all - at the first, eighth, 13th, 14th and 15th - but double bogeys at the third and sixth inflated her score.
Third placed Jessica Meek (Carnoustie Ladies) had an 82 which included a double bogey at the third. Her approach shot hit the pin and the ball rebounded into the burn!
Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) salvaged an 83 after sending two balls out of bounds at the six, resulting in a 10. She also lost a ball at the 14th.
Fiona Liddell had to pull out at the 11th hour, being advised against travelling from Germany because of illness.
The two reserves were unable to play and at 10.30pm on Thursday night the organisers drafted in Carnoustie girl and prospect squad member Claire Robertson (only 14) who had never played fully round the Championship course.
She scored 88 (net 76) which was a good first effort.
