STIRLING OVERPOWER ST ANDREWS IN UNIVERSITIES' LOSSIE FINAL

Stirling's No 1 squad proved to be just that when they retained the Scottish Universities men's team match-play championship for the Mitchell Trophy over the bright and breezy Moray Old Course links at Lossiemouth today.
Having beaten their No 2 squad in the semi-finals, Stirling triumphed over the No 2 seeds, St Andrews, 10-5 in the final.
It was never really close. Stirling took the morning foursomes 3 1/2-1 1 1/2 and the writing was on the wall for St Andrews when they lost the top three singles.
In the end Stirling took the singles 6 1/2-3 1/2 for a 5pt overall win.
