YORKSHIRE STUDENT KILLEN JOINT SIXTH IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Matthew Killen (Newberry College, South Carolina), a sophomore student from Yorkshire, finished joint sixth on 216 (70-74-72) in the Magnolia Invitational college tournament which ended at Orangeburg Country Club, South Carolina today.
Over a par-71 course of 6,843yd, Killen, pictured, finished five shots behind an unusual triple dead-heat on two-under-par 211 at the top of the scoreboard between Bryn Powers (West Georgie) (70-70-71), Jonathan McCurry (UNC-Pembroke) (74-63-74) and Jordan Walor (UNC-Pembroke) (72-68-71).
McCurry's second-round 63 was a course record by the way. A scorecard play-off decided who won the individual honours and the winner was Jordan Walor.
Scott Lambert (UNC-Pembroke) from Matfen Hall, Northumberland, finished T20 on 224 (75-76-73).
Scot Kyle Godsman from Hopeman, Morayshire - a student at South Carolina-Aiken, finished 32nd in the field of 53. He had a total of 229, made up fo rounds of 78-73-78.
There were two more Scots in the field, both finishing behind Godsman. Chris McManus (Clayton State, Atlanta) from Bearsden finished T35 on 232 (80-76-76) while Clark Nelson, also Clayton State and a former Stirling University student, totalled 238 with rounds of 80, 80 and78. He finished T45.
UNC-Pembroke maintained their remarkable team record. They won their fourth successive tournament and made it seven wins in all for the 2011-2012 college golf season.
The final standings here were:
859 UNC-Pembroke, 867 South Carolina-Aiken, 871 Barton College, 888 Newberry College.
Also: 912 Clayton State (8th of nine).

TOMASZ JOINT 15th AT SQUIRE CREEK, LOUISIANA

Tomasz Anderson (Jacksonville State) from Hertfordshire finished T15 in a field of 56 players at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club, Choudrant, Louisiana.
Tomasz, pictured left, a member of Brocket Hall GC,  scored 72, 71 74 for 217, tumbling down the final standings from a joint fifth position overnight
Team-mate Tom Robson from Portsmouth finished T32 on 225 (79-73-73).
Winner by two strokes was Hunter Green (Middle Tennessee State) with scores of 75-70-66 for five-under-par 211 over a par-72 course of 7,105yd.
Louisiana State University (860) won the team title ahead of Louisiana Tech (867) with Middle Tennessee State (870) third and Jacksonville State (880) fourth of nine teams.
