CARLY BOOTH LOSES SPARKLE WITH A 77 IN SPAIN
Two very good rounds could repair the damage but it looks as if Carly
Booth's hopes of back-to-back wins on the Continent nosedived with a five-over-par opening round of 77 in the Banesto Tour event which teed off at Zaragoza in northern Spain today.
On a high after her maiden pro victory in France last Saturday, the 19-year-old Comrie, Perthshire player had only one birdie and that did not come until the par-4 18th in halves of 39 and 38.
She is joint 30th in the field of 57 with two rounds to go.
Ayrshire's Pamela Feggans was the best of the four Scots in action. She is just outside the top 10 with a roller-coaster round of 74 which incuded and eagle 3 at the long fifth and a double bogey 7 at the long 16th.
Heather MacRae (Gleneagles) is sharing 35th place on 78 after a three-birdie round marred by a triple bogey 7 at the ninth.
Katy McNicoll (Carnoustie), joint third behind Carly Booth in the French event, had a lacklustre round of 82 for joint 48th place. She had 10 bogeys, eight pars and no birdies.
Mireia Prat (Spain), Ana Belen Sanchez (Spain) and Marjet Van Der Graaff (Netherlands) share the lead on 71.
