SCOTT LAMBERT HELPS UNC-PEMBROKE TO HISTORIC TITLE WIN

Scott Lambert from the North-east of England was a member of the University of North Carolina-Pembroke team who this week won the Peech Belt Conference Championship - the first men's golf title in the history of the university's golf programme.
UNC-Pembroke and USC-Aiken (University of South Carolina-Aiken) tied on 872 at the head of a field of 11 teams. The play-off last one hole with Pembroke's quintet conjuring up a title-winning birdie between them.
Lambert, pictured, had rounds of 72, 77 and 74 for a total of 223 over a long course (7057yd) with a par of 72.
He finished T16 individually but it will be the team triumph that will live on in his memories of his US college days.
Two Scots were in the field, both Clayton State University students from Atlanta. Clark Nelson finished T35 on 230 with scores of 80, 76 and 74 while Chris McManus scored 75-77-79 for a T39 finished on 231.
There was a field of 55 players and the individual title was won by Joel Dahlenberg (Flagler) with rounds of 73-67-73 for three-under-par 213.

LAST ROUND COSTS SIAN EVANS TITLE CHANCE


Sian Evans (East Tennessee State) from Gillingham, Kent finished joint seventh in a field of 44 for the Atlantic Sun Championship at Victoria Hills Country Club, Deland inFlorida.
Over  par-72 course of 6199yd, Sian (pictured left) was in contention after opening rounds of 71 and 70 but a final round of 78 dropped her down the top 10 with a total of three-over 219.
Joint winners with three-under 213 were one of Sian's team-mates, Gabriella Wahl (67-73-73) and Lacey Fears (Mercer University) (71-70-72).
East Tennessee State (875) finsiehd runners-7p in the team event to winners Kennesaw (871). Mercer (880) were third in a field of nine teams.

SAMMY VASS MAKES TOP 20 IN BIG SOUTH CH/SHIP

Highlander Sammy Vass (Gardner-Webb University) finished T20 in a field of 50 at the Big South Women's Championship at The Patriot Golf Club, Ninety-six, South Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 6,009yd, Sammy (pictured) from Tain, north of Inverness, scored 76, 77 and 83 for 236 -- 22 shots behind the runaway winner by seven, Brittany Henderson (Coastal Carolina) (75-68-71 for 214).
Campbell University (890) won the team title ahead of Coastal Carolina (896) with Gardner-Webb third on 921.
