SUE PHILLIPS WINS WOODBROOK SCRATCH CUP ON COUNTBACK

Home favourite Sue Phillips won the fourth Irish Scratch Cup of the year after firing 77 and 75 to defeat Lahinch's Sinead Sexton on a countback after they had both finished on 152 at Woodbrook,

Trailing Sexton by two strokes at lunchtime, Phillips closed the gap for victory over the afternoon's 18 holes while New Ross' Mary Dowling leapfrogged the field with a best-of-the-day 73 to finish joint third.
Focus now drifts to Lahinch as the fifth Scratch Cup of the ILGU/Titleist Circuit takes place this coming weekend over its beautiful championship links.
