NO MORE CALIFORNIA DREAMING FOR CHRIS ROBB AND LIAM JOHNSTON - THEY'RE HEADING THERE AT THE END OF THE MONTH
Chris Robb from Banchory and Liam Johnston from Dumfries, students at Tennessee-Chattanooga University, have an end-of-college season "bonus" to make them the envy of all young, stay-at-home Scots - Robb and Johnston are bound for the Riviera Country Club, Pacific Palisades, California where the NCAA golf championships will be held from May 29 to June 1.
Over a long course of 7,248yd, Robb, pictured above, joint 28th individually with scores of 72-76-74 for 222, and Johnston, joint 35th with rounds of 77-74-73 for 224, helped Tennessee-Chattanooga head the five teams who qualified at the Regional Championship at Bowling Green, Kentucky. Individual winner was a team-mate of Robb and Johnston's, Stephan Jaeger with scores of 70, 67 and 66 for 203. He finished four shots ahead of Portugal's Pedro Figueiredo (UCLA) with 68-68-70.
