CARNOUSTIE'S CHRIS BELL IS TOP BRIT IN NJCAA DIV 1 CHAMPIONSHIP
Carnoustie's Chris Bell finished the leading British player in a field of 119 at the NJCAA Men's National Division 1 Championship at Sand Creek Station, Newton in Kansas.
Bell, a student at Odessa College, Texas, shot 77 75 76 78 for a total of 306 over the par-72 course of 6948 yards. He finished in joint 28th place.
Aboyne's Paul Simpson (Midland College, Texas), for so long the top Brit in the field, eventually finished joint 35th on 308 with scores of 77 75 77 78
Team-mates Luke Richardson (T37) and Richard Farmer (T59) finished on 309 and 312 respectively.
Luke had scores of 78 74 80 and 77, Richardd 75 77 79 and 83.
Indian Hills (1186) won the team title by 12 shots from runners up Western Texas (1198) with Odessa (1206) third.
Midland College (1214) finished sixth in a field of 23 teams
